DOYLESTOWN (PA) – The accolades continue to come in for Delaware Valley College junior linebacker Kyle Gesswein (Williamstown, NJ/Williamstown) as he was named to the 2009 D3football.com preseason All-American Second Team.

It is the third preseason honor for Gesswein as he was named to the All-American squads by both Lindy’s and The Sporting News in June.

Gesswein is coming off a 2008 season that saw him lead the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) in both sacks (10.5) and tackles for loss (22), with 3.5 of those sacks coming in a win over Albright that gave Delaware Valley a share of the conference crown. He also paced the team and placed third in the conference with 105 tackles while adding four forced fumbles, three blocked kicks and two fumble recoveries. After the year, Gesswein was a first-team all-MAC selection and then picked up second-team all-East Region honors from D3football.com.

Gesswein and the Aggies, who are ranked as high as fourth in the country in various preseason polls, will open the 2009 season on Saturday, September 5 when it hosts 24th-ranked Johns Hopkins University for a non-conference game.

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. --- Lycoming College senior defensive tackle Ted Geurds has been named a 2009 preseason second-team All-America by d3football.com. Geurds is just one of two players from the Middle Atlantic Conference to receive the honor for the upcoming season.

In 2008, Geurds (Douglassville, Pa./Daniel Boone HS) was named first-team All-Conference following a season in which he totaled 40.5 tackles and was third in the conference in sacks with seven. He was the anchor of the defensive line that held opponents to a MAC second-best 117.4 rushing yards per game and the third best overall defense, allowing 302.5 total yards per game.

In the final game of the regular season, Geurds registered a season-high seven total tackles against Lebanon Valley to help the Warriors secure a MAC Co-Championship and earn the league's automatic qualifier for the NCAA Division III playoffs. It marked Lycoming’s first trip to the national post-season since 2003.

Geurds and the Warriors open the 2009 season Sept. 12 at 1:30 p.m., when they host Rowan College on David Person Field.
