MADISON, NJ – Senior pitcher Katelyn Smith (Temecula, CA/Chaparral) and sophomore third baseman Christine Heyl (Avon, NJ/St. Rose) each had a triple, a run scored and three RBI to lead the College at Florham Devils to a 13-1 (5) win over Old Westbury in the First Round of the ECAC Metro Region Tournament on Wednesday afternoon.

With the win, the Devils improved to 27-16 on the season and will advance to play Farmingdale in on Saturday afternoon.

After a scoreless first inning, the Devils exploded for 10 runs in the second inning and three more in the third to put the game out of reach.  Senior catcher Kelly Nover (Lindenhurst, NY/Lindenhurst) went 2-for-2 with two runs scored and two RBI while senior outfielder Leah Minnick (Middletown, NJ/Middletown South) also went 2-for-2 with a double, a run scored and two RBI.  Smith got the win, allowing one run (unearned) on one hit in three innings.
